Hiring Salary Range: $38,220.00 to $42,998.00

Under the direction of the Director of Student Success, the Counselor/Disabilities Services Coordinator is responsible for providing case management and intervention services, counseling and disability services to the campus community and assisting students in achieving personal, academic and career goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide counseling and case management services to students, including personal counseling on a short-term treatment basis, i.e. semester length services, career counseling, and providing referrals to outside agencies as necessary.
- Provide intervention services to assist students in overcoming barriers to success.
- Receive and follow up on student requests for reasonable accommodations in the learning or housing environment.
- Coordinate reasonable accommodations for students based on evaluation of student’s disabilities and associated documentation.
- Determine student eligibility for related Perkins grant benefits and provide necessary counseling for single parents, displaced homemakers, and non-traditional students.
- Coordinate and facilitate counseling groups, personal development workshops, job seeking skills workshops, awareness programs, etc. and assist in the planning and implementation of other student services projects including new student orientation, senior visit days, etc.
- Serves as a resource to the campus community on disability, mental, and physical health issues.
- Coordinate off-campus student job placement activities.
- Coordinate and maintain counseling and career resources, including printed and electronic materials for the campus community, and maintains the counseling web pages on the college web site
- Provide training for faculty and staff on supporting students with disabilities
- Advise administration on issues of compliance with student-related Americans with Disabilities Act requirements and other student disability compliance matters.
- Operate within the scope of the college’s policies, procedures and practices.
- Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned or directed.
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Three years of related experience disability services, counseling, social work or other directly related field, preferably in a higher education setting. Experience working with traditional and non-traditional people of various ethnic backgrounds.
- Licensure as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist.

- Equivalent combinations of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

- Considerable knowledge of contemporary counseling theories and methodologies.
- Considerable knowledge of the American’s with Disabilities Act.
- Considerable knowledge of student learning disabilities and relevant resources for reasonable accommodations.
- Considerable knowledge of Title IX requirements with respect to students with disabilities.
- Working knowledge of college student mental health issues.
- Skill to synthesize data into relevant interventions for at-risk students.
- Ability to work closely as liaison between faculty and students.
- Ability to design and present professional development workshops.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and follow multiple projects and tasks through completion within established deadlines.
- Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong personal work ethic and high degree of personal integrity.
- Ability to relate with a diverse population in a professional, helpful manner and be a team player.
- Ability to promote a positive atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation both with the college, and community.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors.
Level of Supervision
Work is primarily performed under the direction of the Director of Student Success.

- Physical Requirements:
- Tasks require variety of physical activities, which do not generally involve muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching and light lifting. Regular talking, hearing and seeing required in the normal course of performing the job. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required to perform some essential functions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
- Environmental Conditions:
- Work is generally performed in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel and evening/weekend work may be required.
