Outreach, Advocacy, & Sponsorships

Strengthening Counselors.
Supporting Communities.
Shaping Wyoming's Future.

The Wyoming Counseling Association exists to elevate the counseling profession and protect access to quality mental health services across our state. Through strategic outreach, thoughtful advocacy, and meaningful sponsorship partnerships, we work to ensure counselors are supported and Wyoming communities thrive.

Outreach

Connecting Counselors Across Wyoming

Wyoming is vast. Our professional community should not feel that way.

WCA outreach efforts are designed to build connection, increase access to professional development, and expand visibility for counselors statewide.

Our outreach includes:

• Statewide networking opportunities and regional meet-ups
• Continuing education events and our annual conference
• Leadership development opportunities for emerging and seasoned professionals
• Student engagement and mentorship initiatives
• Cross-disciplinary collaboration with behavioral health partners
• Public awareness efforts highlighting the impact of counselors

We are committed to reaching rural and frontier communities, supporting early-career professionals, and strengthening collaboration across mental health, education, healthcare, and community organizations.

When counselors are connected, our communities are stronger.

Advocacy

Representing Counselors at the Local, State, and National Levels

WCA actively monitors legislation, regulatory changes, and public policy that affect counselors, clients, and the communities we serve.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our advocacy work is nonpartisan and focused on education, awareness, and protecting the integrity of the counseling profession.

Our advocacy priorities include:

• Protecting and advancing the counseling profession
• Supporting access to mental health services statewide
• Promoting ethical and evidence-based practice
• Strengthening the behavioral health workforce
• Partnering with statewide coalitions to elevate mental health policy

WCA partners with the Wyoming Behavioral Health Alliance to support coordinated, ethical, and compliant advocacy efforts at the legislature. We also collaborate annually with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for Advocacy Action initiatives that support suicide prevention and funding for critical services such as 988.

Our role is to ensure that policymakers understand the real-world impact of their decisions on counselors, students, families, and communities.

Membership strengthens our voice. Collective engagement drives change
